The Magic Wand of Inch Loss
I must preface the next section by saying the following IS NOT A PAID ADVERTISEMENT. As I’ve said before, no one pays me to endorse products, merchandise or services. When I say I’m excited about something and I love it, it’s the truth. This is a positive column—I tell you when I love something and it works well. I avoid reporting on bad products or services unless it’s just so bad it requires discussion (Case in Point: ill-fitted underwear). So now, on with the show, because this is something I’m amazed to have in our area!
For years, we’ve all dreamed of a magic pill to help us lose weight. While some people have found a few legal and illegal substances, nothing really compares to diet and exercise, and pills have a lot of undesirable side effects. Then along came the magic knife and straw—lyposuction to be exact. In desperation to shrink, some have undergone surgery to have fat literally sucked out of them. The downside (other than surgery, pain, and downtime) is that if you gain weight, it comes back in un-lyposuctioned areas. I don’t know about you, but aside from the discomfort of surgery, having unusual fat deposits doesn’t sound appealing. I’ll just keep the fat.
Now there’s something relatively new, inexpensive (compared to surgery), non-surgical, non-toxic, non-invasive and requires no downtime. I know. It sounds too good to be true. Read on!
I am always skeptical of anything claiming to melt away fat, smooth cellulite and tighten loose skin, particularly if there’s no pain, no down time and relatively little cost. However, I’m also one to give things like this a shot. After all, it’s what we all dream of, and I definitely have a few trouble spots.
As many of you know, I spend a lot of time at Jamie’s Therapeutic Touch in Palestine. They have waxing, micro-dermabrasion, and several interesting weight loss regimens. Plus, I really love that infrared sauna, particularly in the chilly weather. So when she started using radiofrequency and chryotherapy to rejuvenate skin and fight aesthetic problems of age and weight, I decided it was worth a try. Like everyone else, I’ve got nothing to lose but a little cellulite. If you like a gamble, it’s more rewarding when it works and a lot cheaper and closer than driving to Shreveport.
After seeing an improvement with one Ionithermie treatment, I decided to try the Medi-Slim, particularly when I started researching about doctors breaking new ground in the last five to 10 years in creating non-invasive beauty techniques for the face and body with uni-polar and bi-polar radiofrequency. It seems doctors and researchers pay attention to people in America. I found many scholarly medical articles written on the subject of radiofrequency therapy and its success in non-invasive fat removal techniques. I realized this is a real deal! This is not the shaking belt I saw advertised in the ‘80s! It’s not uncomfortable! It has real research behind it I trust! And, it’s approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for this purpose! It’s in Palestine! It’s affordable! This is exciting!
I had my first treatment about three weeks ago. Although I’ve never had an ultrasound, the process seems very similar. After measuring and recording the desired area, the aesthetician applies a special gel to the area. She then rubs a wand against the area for about 30 to 45 minutes. There is no pain, but at times you do feel a bit of heat as the wand is heated and pressed against you to warm the layers of fat just beneath the skin. After the heated wand, she uses a cold wand for about five minutes. (The times are estimates. I chat too much to keep track of time.)
After one treatment on my inner thighs, I lost 1.5 inches on each thigh! Pretty miraculous if you ask me! The skin immediately looked smoother and firmer! It was amazing! And the best part—as soon as I walked in the door, Matthew said he could tell a difference and said my thighs looked better! If a man can see results without being prompted to give the safe answer (which my husband NEVER gives), you know it’s awesome!
I’ve since had another inner thigh treatment and one abdomen treatment. There’s no pain, and only a mild warming sensation that comes and goes for about 14 hours after the treatment. Supposedly the fat literally melts and the heat breaks down the cell walls, massage and heat increase blood flow to the area, and the fat leaves the area through the lymphatic system. Or something like that—I AM NOT A SCIENTIST OR A DOCTOR. However, I’m a woman who knows losing 1.5 inches, getting smoother skin, and watching it last longer than a month is awesome! At $100 per treatment that works, it’s worth it. While it does take usually three to six treatments depending on your situation to see maximum results, the results are supposedly relatively permanent, with maintenance being one treatment every six months to a year. Of course you should only use it in conjunction with a diet and exercise program. But if you’re like me and want to make a change, you’ll be glad you did! And be sure to tell the ladies at Jamie’s that Laura Land sent you! I know you’ll love it, and I want her to know it’s definitely made a believer out of me!

Fighting fat can be a daily battle and Jamie’s Therapeutic Touch Day Spa is offering a new weapon in that fight — the Medi-Slim and Medi-Lift Ultrasonic Cavitation treatment.
Ultrasonic cavitation uses ultrasounds of high and low radio frequencies that penetrate into the sub-cutaneous layer of the skin where fat cells are stored in order to reduce cellulite, shape and contour the body, tighten the skin, improve elasticity and more.
The process is completed in six to 12 treatments lasting 45 minutes per area being treated, with treatments taken at one to two week intervals. Changes are visible within the first 48 hours.
The machine also does freezing, a similar procedure that targets localized fat deposits and reduces them by chilling them to just above freezing. The fat is turned from a liquid to a solid, causing the fat cells to shrink while leaving skin and tissues unharmed.
Not all clients are eligible for these procedures. Candidates for freezing should be within 10 to 15 pounds of their ideal body weight, with noticeable bulges or bumps to reduce.
Costs of the procedures range from $35 for the neck to $100 for legs, buttocks, abs or love handles and cellulite. Add a facial, body wrap or lymphatic drainage to any of those treatments at special rates.

Jamie’s Therapeutic Touch Day Spa in Palestine, Texas

The partner: Snap Fitness Personal Training

The objective: To round out the spa’s weight-loss and contouring service options
The offer: “We’ve developed a whole wellness program,” says owner Jamie Pettiette-Rhone. “We offer everything we can to get the body revved up to burn calories and lose extra fat.” This includes infrared dry sauna sessions (which claim to torch 900 calories in 30 minutes), ionithermie, anti-cellulite services and more. “Once we get guests into that routine, we refer them to Snap Fitness trainer Tamara Barnett. She helps shape and tone their bodies, works out with them, and advises on nutrition and caloric intake,” Pettiette-Rhone explains. “Wellness program guests typically come see us, as well as her, once or twice a week.”

The inspiration: Pettiette-Rhone’s personal weight-loss odyssey was her impetus. “I was 60 pounds overweight after having a baby and I lost the weight within two months, largely by sitting in the sauna every day,” she says. “But I also needed motivation to work out, and that’s where Tamara came in. My clients wanted to learn more about how they could lose weight, so we teamed up with Snap to help design long-term health and workout plans for individual guests that would keep them motivated.”

The sell: Each plan is custom-catered, based on the client’s goals. Plans start at $60 per month for unlimited sauna sessions. “Once they see how much they lose from that alone, guests want to do more,” Pettiette-Rhone says. And they needn’t look further than the Snap program literature that Jamie’s Therapeutic Touch always keeps on hand. “For some clients, we’ve created yearlong plans that include cleanses, regular body wraps and sauna sessions, along with personal training.” “Sauna club” and body-wrap clients who express an interest in taking their weight-loss goals further typically receive one free personal training session. After that, Barnett and Pettiette-Rhone work out a serial deal. (It’s common for guests to purchase 10 personal training sessions and five wraps or sauna sessions, and receive one free of each.)

How it’s promoted: The spa uses Facebook to highlight its weight-loss offerings, as well as print and radio ads. Pettiette-Rhone also writes a monthly column about fitness and nutrition for the local paper. Snap Fitness promotes its spa collaboration with fliers distributed across town. “We’re all over the place, but of course, word-of-mouth is the ultimate when it comes to weight loss,” Pettiette-Rhone says.

The verdict: “We’ve seen an increase in business of at least 30% to 40% since we teamed with Snap,” Pettiette-Rhone reports. “I recently had a very overweight client lose eight pounds in one week, and that was huge for her. Many clients are losing two to 10 pounds a week with the added boost of training sessions.”

Rhone completes advanced training

Staff ReportsPalestine Herald-Press

PALESTINE — Imagine yourself completely relaxed…

After doing Ashiatsu massage for the past two years, Jamie Pettiette Rhone, owner of Jamie’s Therapeutic Touch day spa, recently completed 30 hours of advanced training — putting her at the master level in the unique method of massage.

“I am so excited to learn new moves and my clients are so excited,” Rhone said. “There is no experience like that of an Ashiatsu massage.”

Ashiatsu (pronounced Ah-SHEE-ought-su) is a Japanese word meaning “foot pressure.”

While holding on to bars on the ceiling, the therapist uses the feet to apply deep compression to large muscle groups.

“Utilizing my body weight, I am able to apply very deep soothing strokes to the muscles of the back of the body with my feet,” Rhone said. “When I find areas of dense tension, I can flex my foot and apply more direct pressure with my heel.”

Many people benefit from the Ashiatsu technique, including those who have chronic back pain, mild scoliosis or sciatica, those who can never get enough pressure in a massage and clients seeking improved posture and movement.

Ashiatsu addresses tight or painful hamstrings, calf muscles, quadriceps, tight forearms and more.

“This is a truly wonderful experience,” Rhone said. “Why not try it for yourself? Get off your feet and relax under mine!”

Chocolate Spa Day makes perfect Valentine's

gift

PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) – Cards, flowers, candy—it's all just sneaking up around the corner on Valentine's Day. One spa on Crockett Road in Palestine found a way to give an old gift a unique twist.

From manicures, pedicures, massages, hair treatments, and more, massage and skin care therapist, Jamie Pettiette Rohne, created a healthy way to receive chocolate for Valentine's Day. "It puts vitamins in your skin, and it helps with weight loss and cellulite. It's good for you all around," says Jamie.

Being the only East Texan to perform Oshey Austo, a massage performed by the feet, using chocolate makes her even more unique.

"You just come and do a whole day of nothing but chocolate-filled services, so when you leave your just like, umm, you smell good, you look good, your skin is soft, I mean you just feel rejuvenated. It's amazing," she says.

In a roundabout way, this chocolate spa day is for men, too.

"I like to be spoiled, and I love the chocolate scent, and even my son says when I get done, "Momma, you smell good," so I know my husband likes it," said customer Veronica Gilbert. But really, men can feast in the chocolate day, too.

"Do you think this could be used for men, too," I asked.

"Oh absolutely, I don't know a woman who doesn't like the smell of chocolate," Veronica says.

For your one true love, I give it a thumbs-up for your Valentine's Day.

The chocolate treatments will last throughout the month of February. The packages range from $99-$400.

Jamie's Spa going ‘green’ in March

PALESTINE — As St. Patrick’s Day draws near, the folks at Jamie's Therapeutic Touch Day Spa are helping spa-goers celebrate throughout the month of March with Shamrock Massages and “green” beer treatments. The beer spa treatment is gaining popularity. This luxury skin care treatment offers more than an extravagant experience. Aside from the benefits to our skin the hops used in making beer (preservative agent ) has a powerful antibiotic effect which when bathed in helps to reduce inflammation. The treatment begins with soaking in a tub filled with a special brew for 20 minutes. The bubbly effect gives you a pleasant massage, stimulates circulation and helps you relax. Following the beer foot soak, clients will get a full body beer experience. First, the massage therapist will exfoliate the client's body with the Citrus exfoliating "Green" Beer body scrub which removes dead skin and helps the skin to glow. Now it is time for the Sham”rock” Massage, which combines a rhythmic Swedish technique with hot stones. Using hot stones to massage, totally relaxes the body and warms the soul, which includes a "green" tea scalp massage. Then what's better than a Better Beer wrap Cocoon using a beer-mix wrap solution, and a "Green with Envy" Facial in honor of St. Patricks Day! Organic ingredients in this revitalizing and brightening facial hydrate and soothe while the Eight Greens Complex provides powerful antioxidants to purify distressed and fatigued skin. This Beer Enzyme Facial Besides being a tasty thirst-quencher, the enzymes in beer are known for their gentle surface exfoliation, helping rid the skin's surface of dead cells. This non-abrasive technique is great for both men and women, and the suds render skin softened, revitalized and refined. Beer yeast is rich in elements, can increase skin elasticity and can help improve the symptoms of acne by suppressing the excessive secretion of sebum and killing off the bacteria that triggers acne. Beer has shown to have antibacterial properties, which protect against infections. Those who want to be sure they’re wearing green on St. Patrick’s Day can opt for SpaRitual’s Emerald Green or Optical Illusion green polish, with their Peppermint "Patty" Relaxing Foot Soak and "green" Beer Pedicure, using a Green Mask followed by a wonderful Luck of the Irish Foot Massage. The yeast in the beer softens the bottoms of feet, and the alcohol is antibacterial and a natural antiseptic. Next- To the heated relaxation room for 30 minutes. With a dimmed light and soothing music atmosphere you are wrapped up and left to relax, have a mild sweat, and let the skin absorb the natural health effects of the beer. We will finish off with a Green Beer Scalp Treatment using beer extract, and top it off with a glass of "green" beer or "Green tea. Highlighted in celebration of the upcoming Irish holiday, the treatments offer spa-goers another way to celebrate while enjoying the popular :green" drink. Jamie's Therapeutic Spa offering new cellulite treatment
Palestine Herald-Press

PALESTINE — Jamie's Therapeutic Touch Day Spa is now offering a new cellulite treatment, Full Body Compression Therapy & Lymphatic Drainage System.

This new cellulite treatment offers full body detoxification and lymphatic drainage, while tackling cellulite without exercise. This procedure can be performed with or without clothing, according to your preference.

“Pressotherapy is a very relaxing experience. Immediately after the treatment your legs and stomach areas should feel extremely light and relaxed. Also, we can combine it with seaweed wraps and cellulite creams to maximize the benefits of detoxification,” owner Jamie Pettiette Rhone said. “With this treatment we use pressure cuffs, which look like very long boots that go all the way up to the breast area. The boots are slipped on the legs and hooked up to a special computer controlled compression device which inflates the cuffs.”

The system was originally created for the after surgery recovery and used in some medical centers. This system is adjusted to estheticians to use. We can also use it as add on to facial, so our clients can receive the full body and face treatment. Also the facial that you are couple with pressotherapy gives better results because the lymphatic and blood systems are in move and body respond differently the absorption process is much more effective

The system is working mostly with lymphatic body system and provides permanent results but you need to continue follow up sessions from time to time.

Lymphatic drainage system starts to push the lymph from the limbs that initiate the complete lymphatic and blood systems circulation. The system performs not just the squeezing but directed massage by pushing the air through overlapping chambers.

Clients can be in regular clothes or anti-cellulite cream can be added for faster detoxification.

Pressotherapy also includes lymphatic massage or muscle relaxing massage by adjusting the pressure from levels 3 to 5.

Jamie’s Therapeutic Touch’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Special appointments are available on request. "Fijian massage is very popular because clients want a therapeutic deep massage that is also relaxing. Deep Tissue Massage using elbows is a “sharp” pain. With the Fijian, the main deep work is with the heel. This deep pressure is softer than an elbow, yet it is a stronger stroke. As a bonus, clients often find that the repair happens much quicker with the Fijian Barefoot Massage."

""It's like a slow dance of therapeutic movement," says Rhone. In an Ashiatsu or Ashi-Thai session, the client relaxes on a comfortable massage table while the therapist stands on the table holding onto overhead bars for balance and support, using their feet to deliver the massage. The advantage of these massages - both for the client and the therapist - is that they allow gravity to do the work, leveraging the therapists' body weight to provide a depth unmatched by other techniques."

During this treatment, the therapist grips bars installed over the treatment table in order to balance themselves and use the pressure of their feet to massage with aromatic oil.

"Body aches and pains, joint stiffness, arthritis and other chronic pain and suffering are not just part of life that need to be tolerated. Relief from the pain of arthritis, joint stiffness, body aches and pains, as well as other chronic pain is possible. So many people suffer daily from the terrible pain of arthritis, joint stiffness, and other chronic body aches and pains unnecessarily. Many studies have shown that the regular use of a far infrared sauna can bring the relief from pain that so many people seek."

November 15, 2008

"Starting out in 2004 as a "one-woman" operation in an old 8x12 file room, Palestine native Jamie Pettiette-Rhone began achieving her dream of bringing a state-of-the-art day spa to her home town.

Just one year later, Rhone expanded Jamie’s Therapeutic Touch for the first time to include an additional room and a secretary. After another 18 months, she purchased a building on Palestine Avenue — adding two massage therapists, a nail tech and hair dressers.

And now, just three years after her last expansion, Rhone has upgraded again to a 2,000-square-foot building on Crockett Road that includes eight treatment rooms housing six massage therapists, three estheticians (skin care therapists) and two nail technicians.
"

November 18, 2007

"Since opening Jamie’s Therapeutic Touch four years ago, Jamie Pettiette-Rhone has always strived to bring the best, most up-to-date spa treatments to the people of Palestine.

Starting out on her own as a certified skin care therapist (or aesthetician) on Mallard Street, Rhone later moved her business to a larger location on Palestine Avenue and added treatments like Ionithermie and Aqua Detox as well as massage therapy to her operation.

December 24, 2006

"For those who want to start 2006 on the right feet, just put them in some water and let Jamie Pettiette Rhone of Jamie's Therapeutic Touch in Palestine work her magic with the new innovative health treatment called Aqua DetoxT.

With just water and saline, the Aqua DetoxT treatment uses electrical current to stimulate all cells in the body and rebalance cellular energy, thus allowing toxins to release themselves through the feet into the water."

July 3, 2005

"Jamie Pettiette Rhone, owner of Jamie's Therapeutic Touch in Palestine, makes it a goal to offer the latest most innovative spa and or health treatments available to her clients. She continues that practice by bringing ever-popular Ionithermie treatments to her day spa - one that has been featured in many popular women's magazines and is the only treatment of its kind available in East Texas."

February 6, 2005

"Anyone who has ever attempted a weight-loss program knows that it can at times be frustrating. Even a strict diet and exercise regime does not always give one the results they are looking for."

November 11, 2004

"As a esthetician, or skin care therapist, Rhone's goal is to help every person achieve the goal of being beautiful inside and out."
